I'd really like to know, I'm an engineer and love it, and I just don't get it!

In my opinion, 𝐀𝐈 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐝𝐞. 𝐀𝐈 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 across the whole lifecycle—analysis, design, support, implementation. It’s not just about co-piloting code anymore. The potential to transform the way we build software is massive.

So my question is: 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧’𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬?

It seems like a no-brainer. 𝐈’𝐦 𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝. I want to build bigger, better, and faster—like everybody else. Honestly, I thought we’d be much further along by now. And I think many business leaders thought the same. But the results haven’t fully materialized—and instead of asking why not, some engineers use that gap as proof that AI can’t accelerate delivery. I’d argue the opposite: it’s not that AI can’t accelerate us—it’s that we’re not using it effectively. Or consistently. Or ambitiously enough.

So again: 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭?

😨 Fear of change?

🧠 Fear of being replaced?

😌 Comfort with the status quo? ⏱️ Lack of time to properly explore the tools?

❓ Something else?

In a recent article, I explored and defined this as the problem—but I didn’t really dig into the 𝐰𝐡𝐲𝐬. That’s what I want to understand better now.
